A Personal Welcome

Dear Friend in Christ,

Welcome! We’re so glad you’ve found your way here. Whether you come with faith that feels strong, questions that weigh heavy, or burdens you can’t quite name, please know that you are not alone, and you are deeply loved by Jesus.

The Bible teaches us to be truthful about ourselves, to acknowledge that we are all sinners in need of grace. Yet even more, we rejoice in the greater truth that God’s grace in Christ is for you. His mercy is new every morning, His forgiveness complete, and His love unshakable.

As you explore this site, we hope you will see that we are a group of sinners who cling to the grace of Jesus Christ. That we are imperfect people gathered around a perfect Savior, walking together in faith, hope, and love.

We invite you to join us in worship, fellowship, and service as we grow in God’s Word and share His love with the world.

In Christ’s peace,

Pastor Mayhew and Pastor Naumann

What to Expect

You can expect a warm welcome, Christ-centered worship, and faithful, biblical teaching at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.

When you arrive through our front doors, you’ll enter through our narthex, a friendly gathering space just outside our sanctuary. Our worship services take place in the sanctuary, while fellowship, Bible study, and other events are typically held downstairs in our fellowship hall.

If you’re visiting for worship, an usher will greet you with a bulletin to guide you through the service, and you are welcome to sit wherever you feel comfortable. Our pastor often takes time before the service to greet visitors personally.

Our services last about an hour and are rooted in the rich liturgical tradition of the Lutheran Church. They reverent in tone, yet deeply relevant to the joys and struggles of everyday life. Each service points us to Christ’s forgiveness, grace, and steadfast love for all people.

Frequently Asked Questions

You’re welcome to simply come and join us. No reservation or call ahead is needed! There’s always room for you!

If you’d like, you’re also welcome to reach out beforehand so we can answer any questions and help you feel more at ease before you arrive. But whether or not we’ve had the chance to speak in advance, know that you are warmly invited and truly welcome here.

Our church has long, cushioned pews. You are welcome to sit in any pew you like.

You are welcome to participate in the worship service as much or as little as you feel comfortable. You do not need to sing hymns or speak the creed or any other responses if you prefer not to.

Generally, it is customary to stand when the congregation stands and sit when they sit, if you are able. If standing is difficult or uncomfortable for you, please feel free to remain seated.

If you are not a communicant member of a Church of the Lutheran Confession (CLC) congregation, we kindly ask that you speak with the pastor before receiving communion at our altar. This is out of care for your spiritual well-being.

Everyone is welcome at our worship services. There is never a charge to attend.

If you’d like to support our ministry, a freewill offering plate is passed around during the offering part of our service. Please know there is absolutely no expectation or pressure to contribute.

We welcome communicant members of sister congregations of the Church of the Lutheran Confession (CLC) to receive communion at our altar.

You will see all types of dress at Immanuel. We strive to dress our best out of respect for the God we have come to worship.

Yes, children are absolutely welcome at Immanuel! We have many programs designed just for them, including Sunday School, Catechism Class, and Youth Group. We also support a K-12 school.

Children are always invited to participate in our main worship service. We believe that worshipping together as one family, rather than holding a separate “children’s church,” allows us all to be blessed by their presence and example of faith.

We understand that kids can get restless or make noise. That is totally normal! If you feel the need to step out to soothe your child, we have a mothers’ room available in the narthex. Father’s are welcome to use the upstairs hallway.

Immanuel has a parking lot just off of Washington Street. There is plenty of street parking around the building as well.

Yes! We have a restroom in the mothers’ room, a family restroom available in the upstairs hallway, and large men and women’s bathrooms at the bottom of the stairs.
