Hymns: 221; 414; 310; 219; 207; 216
Pre-Service Prayer:
May we Thy precepts, Lord, fulfill and do on earth our Father's will as angels do above;
Still walk in Christ, the living Way, with all Thy children and obey the law of Christian love.
So may we join Thy name to bless, Thy grace adore, Thy power confess, from sin and strife to flee.
One is our calling, one our name, the end of all our hopes the same, a crown of life with Thee.
Spirit of Life, of Love, and Peace, unite our hearts, our joy increase, Thy gracious help supply.
To each of us the blessing give in Christian fellowship to live, in joyful hope to die. Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 8

First Reading:

1 Peter 4:7-11

The same Jesus that ascended will return in glory to judge the living and the dead. The end of all things is at hand—it can occur at any time. Peter, therefore, encourages us to be watchful in our prayers loving one another as Christ has loved us, serving one another with the gifts He gives, and proclaiming His Word to the glory of His name.

Second Reading:

John 15:18-27; John 16:1-4

As we await Jesus’ return we journey through this world, and we won’t be loved by the world around us anymore than the unbelieving world around Jesus loved Him. The apostle Paul echoes Jesus’ words in his letter to Timothy when he informs us that “those who seek to live godly lives will suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12). Nevertheless, we are safe in our Savior.
