Pre-Service Prayer:

Jesus, my High Priest, thank You for taking flesh and blood and coming to be my Savior—the Priest and the Sacrifice. Thank You for continuing to intercede with our Father on my behalf. Through Your Word teach me to know and understand what it means to have You as my high priest. Move my heart to an ever-abundant thankfulness for every blessing. In worship today, hear my prayers, accept my praises, and cause my faith to grow.  Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 103

First Reading:

James 1:12-15

The road through this life is filled with temptations that seek to derail us from following our Savior. These temptations are not from God. Rather it is our own sin and weakness that make us vulnerable to temptations. Our Savior, Jesus, enables us to endure these temptations and receive the crown of life.

Second Reading:

Matthew 4:1-11

After 40 days of fasting in the wilderness, Jesus looked like a perfect target for the Devil. Satan came to Jesus and tempted Him three times. Neither on this occasion nor on any other did Jesus fall into the temptation which Satan put in His path. Jesus was tempted, but did not sin. He defeated Satan with the power of God’s Word.
