Lord, Teach Me to Pray
Lord Jesus, my Savior and Brother: As I come to worship today, grant that I may gladly hear Your Word and that all of my worship will be acceptable to You. Teach me to pray that I do so without ceasing and with complete confidence that our Father hears and answers those prayers according to His will. Amen.
God’s words to Ezekiel instruct us concerning the importance of sharing His Word with others. We, like Ezekiel, are watchmen, called to proclaim to sinners what God says regarding their sin. The seriousness of God’s message to Ezekiel also identifies the most important thing for which we can work and pray—the eternal salvation of souls.
Among his final requests to the Thessalonian Christians, Paul asks them to pray for him with the goal that the Word of God would have its saving effect, and that the souls of the Thessalonians would also be strengthened. This prayer-focus on spiritual needs is a good example and reminder for our own prayer-life.
