Pre-Service Prayer:

I ask You, dear Lord Jesus, my heart to keep and train.
That I Your holy temple from youth to age remain.
Oh, turn my thoughts forever from worldly wisdom’s lore;
If I but learn to know You, I shall not want for more. Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 34

First Reading:

Ephesians 5:15-20

God has given us genuine, meaningful, and life-giving wisdom in His Word. Christian education—imparting this wisdom to each new generation—is part of “redeeming the time” during our lives on this earth. As we make use of God’s Word with one another we will mutually grow in the joy of our salvation.

Second Reading:

Mark 10:13-16

The mothers who came to Jesus understood the blessing of Christ’s “education” for their children. The disciples thought they understood, but didn’t. Jesus continues to urge parents to bring their children to them and when they come He “takes them up in His arms and blesses them” through the instruction of His Word.
