Pre-Service Prayer:

Dear Jesus, it is so easy for me to rush through the examination of my life and not fully recognize the sins which I harbor in my heart. Forgive me for not taking better care in recognizing and confessing my sins. Teach me with Your Word so that I will better understand my sins and then through the blessing of the Holy Spirit be better equipped to turn from temptation. Shine the light of Your Word in my heart today and accept my prayers and praise. Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 103

First Reading:

Psalm 103

If we ponder our lives and their blessings we are reminded of just how merciful and gracious our God is. Without Him we are helpless, hopeless, comfortless, and without real joy. With Him we have a tender forgiving Father, a mighty Protector, a compassionate Healer, a wise Provider, in other words: AN AWESOME GOD! Bless the Lord, O my soul!

Second Reading:

Acts 4:1-22

Peter and John healed a lame man at a temple gate, a crowd gathered, and Peter preached to them. Peter and John were then arrested and brought before the Jewish Council. The apostles confessed that salvation comes only through Jesus. The Jewish leaders had to admit that something was at work among the followers of Jesus, but instead of asking more about Jesus they threatened the apostles and let them go.
