Pre-Service Prayer:

Dear Jesus, thank You for bringing us together in worship this morning. Thank You for calling us by Your Word and joining us together through faith in You. Help all of us to more fully appreciate one another. Remind us of the incredible bond and common ground we share with one another through You. Help us to see and appreciate the unique gifts You have given to each of us. Fill us with a love and zeal for You and Your Kingdom so that we serve together in love and toward Your glory! Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 133

First Reading:

Proverbs 9:7-10

Being the bearer of wisdom is not always a pleasant task. Bringing correction to a scoffer will result in ridicule. However, bringing correction and encouragement to someone who is wise will be a joy. This is a good reminder for us in two ways. First, if we are the ones being corrected, let us be wise and receive the correction humbly and with wisdom. Secondly, if we are the ones offering the counsel, let us do so in the fear of the Lord.

We seek to reflect our Savior’s love as we live with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We bear with one another patiently, demonstrate kindness and humility, and forgive one another. Paul urges us to live in this way and thereby lift up one another, encourage, and counsel one another so that the whole of the body of Christ will be strengthened. This has special application to us in each of our individual roles—children, parents, employers, and employees.
