A Word of Truth #132
“Would you like to purchase an extended warranty or service plan?” The market for extended warranties and service plans arises from a consumer’s desire to have a manufacturer “back up” the product.
God is the ultimate manufacturer. He has manufactured everything we see and use. God has not left His creation without support. God continues to sustain and preserve the life He has created. He sends the sun and the rain within changing seasons to renew the earth and provide what we need for food, shelter, and clothing. He maintains the earth’s orbit and its safety within space. Were God to withdraw His preservation, the entire universe would simply collapse in destruction and cease to exist!
We have an extended service plan from God. God, our Creator, promises to preserve and maintain the universe and bring each new season upon another until the Judgement Day when He Himself will bring this earth to its end.
A Word of Truth #133
When a gift is given, we expect that the recipient will express gratitude and appreciation for what has been received. This is not only good manners, it is also the only appropriate response.
God, our heavenly Father, gives us great gifts. “Every good gift and every perfect gift comes down from the Father of Lights,” James says. Our heavenly Father has created the world in which we live and continues to provide for it and for our lives. God has sent His Son, Jesus to die for our sins so that we might live with Him forever! Surely these are the greatest of all gifts.
Our thanks and appreciation is expressed to God by our words and actions. We show appreciation to God when we thank and praise Him and when we serve Him by following His will and obeying His commandments. “Fear the LORD, and serve Him in truth with all your heart, for consider what great things He has done for you!” (1 Samuel 12:24).
