The Only Solution for Sin

Sometimes a problem has more than one solution. The problem of sin does not.

God commands us to obey His law. It is His right to have this expectation because He is our Creator. Our just God rightly condemns every sinner to eternal death in hell because that is the punishment for breaking God’s law even one time. To solve our problem we need to have God’s expectations fulfilled and the punishment for our sin paid. Only through Jesus Christ can either of these be accomplished.

Jesus, the Son of God, lived a perfect life in our place. Jesus, the Son of God, died to pay the punishment our sins deserve. Both Jesus’ life and death become ours through faith. The Gospel—the Good News about Jesus as found in the Bible—teaches us the only solution to our problem by revealing Jesus and His work to us.

The Gospel of Jesus is the one and only solution to our soul’s sin problem.

We Call God “Father”

God has chosen to identify Himself in the Bible as our “Father.” That is a powerful term invoking within most of us a strong reaction—either positive or negative depending upon our experience. Human fathers can be good or bad men—strong protectors and providers or weak abusers and profligates.

God is a perfect “Father”—the Father, first of all, of Jesus Christ, our Savior. The apostle Paul writes, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3). He is also the heavenly Father of all who place their faith in Jesus. The apostle writes as well, “You are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:26).
