A Word of Truth #084 (John 19:30)
It’s all over…I tried, but couldn’t do it, I’m sorry. – No.
It’s finished, my life is done, goodbye. – No.
IT STAND’S FINISHED!!! – THE WORK OF REDEMPTION IS COMPLETE!! – YES!!
When Jesus cried out saying, “It is finished” He was not merely speaking of His life or His time on the cross. The Son of Man was manifested that He might destroy the works of the Devil (cf. 1 John 3:8). Jesus had come specifically to suffer the punishment of Hell and redeem the world. THAT is what was finished when He died.
Knowing that Jesus has completed the work of redemption is to know a marvelous truth. Everything necessary for our salvation is complete, we have nothing to contribute. There are no missing pieces we must supply. The forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation are fully and freely ours through the blessings that daily flow to us from the work Jesus completed on the cross.
It is finished! Your redemption is complete! You are saved in Christ!
A Word of Truth #085 (Matthew 28:2,6)
Have you ever gone looking for something, only to find something else—something you least expected? That’s what happened Easter morning when the women went to Jesus’ tomb. They were looking for a dead body. They wanted to prepare Jesus’ body for a proper burial. They even wondered who would roll the large stone away from the tomb’s entrance.
Matthew informs us, however, in His Gospel that early Easter morning “an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and…rolled back the stone from the door” (28:2). He didn’t do that to let Jesus out, but rather as a testimony that Jesus wasn’t there. Consequently, when the women entered the tomb, they didn’t find what they were looking for, but rather were informed by the angels, “He (Jesus) is not here; for He is risen!” The empty tomb tells the story—Jesus arose physically from the dead! Hallelujah!
