A Word of Truth #076 (John 14:2-3)
As Jesus prepared His disciples for the time when He would no longer visibly walk with them on the earth, the disciples were sad. But Jesus told them why He was going and what it would mean. “In My Father’s house are many rooms…I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am there you may be also.” (John 14:2-3).
Jesus came to the earth to suffer and die and thereby redeem you from your sins. Now, He is in heaven preparing a place for you and every other believer. There will be room for all who put their trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, because there are many rooms.
Jesus came to the earth so that we might live with Him forever instead of being separated from Him because of our sins. Jesus is in the Father’s House and it has many rooms. Jesus is preparing one for you!
A Word of Truth #077
How do we know that what the Bible says is true? There are a number of good reasons one could cite, among them the promise of Jesus. On Maundy Thursday evening, after Jesus ate the Passover meal with His disciples, He made this promise to those disciples, “The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26).
The very next day Jesus died on the cross. Three days later He arose from the dead. Forty days thereafter He ascended into heaven, but He did not leave His disciples alone. His Father sent the Holy Spirit to be their Helper—to teach them everything they needed to know—to cause them to remember accurately and then record everything Jesus had told them. Today we have that sure and certain record in the Bible.
