A Word of Truth #062
When we are facing a task for the first time or are experiencing something new, we might wish to find someone who has already had the experience. Was the driving test difficult? How did you cope with cancer treatments?
Our futures and what will occur in them are unknown to us. Oh, if only we had someone to whom we could turn for the future! WE DO!!
The Lord God is eternal. He knows the future and is actively guiding the present to bless us in that future. God who so loved us that He sent His Son to be our Savior thousands of years before we were born, God who in the past directed all events so that we would hear the Gospel and be brought to faith, God who has provided for us and safely brought us thus far in our lives, is the same God who holds the future in His hands.
The future is unknown, but we know who holds the future and we call Him, “Father.”
A Word of Truth #063
Who is Jesus? Was He a mere man—a teacher, a prophet, a fraud? Or is He the Son of God, as the Bible claims? In his Gospel, John speaks of Jesus’ origin and person. He says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (1:1). John ties Jesus’ origin to eternity and His person to God! This can be said of no one else.
Jesus was no mere man—just a teacher of morality or another prophet, and He certainly was no fraud. He is the eternal “Word” from God—the One God sent to reveal His will to mankind. John states further regarding Jesus, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (1:14). Study the Bible—experience the Father’s grace and truth as you listen to Jesus.
