A Word of Truth #060
“Behold! The day is coming burning like an oven, and all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up…but to you who fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings.” (Malachi 4:2).
To sinners living in their sin, the judgment of a holy God rings out: “The day is coming…you will be stubble…burned up!” Nevertheless, there is hope. Through the prophet Malachi, God spoke of the “Sun of Righteousness” who would rise and bring healing. The Sun of Righteousness rises in the hearts of sinners when through the Gospel of Christ they are brought to repent of their sins and believe in Jesus for forgiveness.
The news of our salvation through Jesus brings healing to consciences troubled by guilt. It brings healing to hearts that yearn for confidence and hope. When we turn to Jesus for healing and trust in His promises, He will be in our hearts the Sun of Righteousness that never sets.
A Word of Truth #061
Many people chose to ignore God and His Word, but then blame God when things go badly in their lives. That is like trying to bake a cake, while ignoring the recipe’s directions, and then blaming Betty Crocker when it doesn’t turn out!
God is the most powerful Being in the universe. It is foolish to ignore Him and His Word—the Bible. God is also just and merciful. He must punish sin, but He has had mercy upon all sinners by sending Jesus to reconcile the world to Himself through His work of redemption. God will still judge those individuals who reject Jesus, but He has this to say to everyone who is led by the Spirit to embrace Jesus in faith: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).
