A Word of Truth #058
“In despair I bowed my head, there is no peace on earth I said.”
In a world that seems to always be at war we might well wish to agree with the poet.
In Isaiah, God foretold of the Savior and said, “Unto us a Child is born…His name will be called…Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus IS the Prince of Peace and His peace is alive and well throughout the world. His peace reigns in every heart that repents of its sin and finds the peace of forgiveness in Christ. Jesus was born to bring peace between sinners and a holy God. It is the peace of knowing God is control, I am right with God, I am able to cast my every care upon Him—I am at peace!
Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). Jesus is the Prince of Peace. We hail His birth!!
A Word of Truth #059
Imagine predicting the birthplace of someone seven hundred years in advance. That is what Micah did when he prophesied that Jesus Christ would be born in Bethlehem. He said, “But you, Bethlehem, Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be ruler in Israel, whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting” (Micah 5:2).
After Jesus’ birth the Wise Men used these very words to find Him. What is even more interesting than Micah naming Jesus’ birthplace, however, was how he described Him. Micah identified Jesus, that baby born in Bethlehem, as true God—One “whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting!” Bend your knees with the wise men before the manger this Christmas—the Christ-Child of Bethlehem is the very Son of God!
