Faithful until Death

A Word of Truth #054

Poverty, spiritual attacks, and imprisonment faced the church in Smyrna. To them Jesus promised: “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Revelation 2:10).

Jesus’ promise is also for YOU. Whatever sorrow or hardship may seek to lead you into discouragement and doubts toward God; whatever enticing allurement seeks to attract you away from Christ to the pleasures of sin; whatever the Devil and all of his forces may seek to use against you, your Savior’s promise still stands: “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

We are unable to remain faithful of ourselves. However, when we hold onto the Truth of God’s Word nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (cf. Romans 8:37-39). Then for the faithfulness which God Himself gives us, He will also give us the crown of life—an eternal home in heaven where every tear will be dried, every pain removed, every lack supplied, and where we will see and live with our Lord face-to-face.

Jesus is the “Seed of the Woman”

A Word of Truth #055

After Adam and Eve fell into sin in the Garden of Eden, they demonstrated quite clearly that they could not deal properly with their sin. Instead of confessing it, they blamed others. People have done that throughout history, and certainly do that today.

God did not respond to our first parents in anger, however, but rather with love. He promised to send a Savior to deliver all of us from sin and Satan. In Genesis 3:15, God calls His promised Savior the “Seed of the Woman,” whom He would send to “bruise the head” of Satan and so deliver us from sin.

God fulfilled His promise when the Virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus on that first Christmas. Through his life, death, and resurrection Jesus overcame sin and Satan for us. Place your trust in Jesus this Christmas. God sent Him to be your Savior!
