Be Prepared

A Word of Truth #052

Christmas is coming—are you ready?

Christ is coming—are you ready?

Being prepared for Christ’s return and the end of this world is to live day-by-day in an ongoing state of repentance—to confess our sins with sorrow, to turn to Jesus in faith for the forgiveness of those sins, and to turn away from our sins, humbly submitting to the Word of God and trusting in His promises. Being prepared is to address spiritual needs today and every day, not putting them on the shelf for “when there is time” or ignoring them because “I’m just not that religious.” Being prepared is expecting Jesus’ return (or our own death) at any time and not being lulled into thinking tomorrow will always come. Being prepared is seeing what gifts God has given us and then using those gifts for the work of God’s Kingdom and to His glory. “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming” (Matthew 25:13). “Blessed is the servant whom his master, when he comes, will find him [faithful]” (Matthew 24:46).

Jesus will Return to Judge the Living and the Dead!

A Word of Truth #053

Jesus Christ is not just a past historical figure. He is the living Son of God. He sits at His Father’s right hand, ruling over all things for the benefit of His Church. He promises to return at the end of time to judge both the living and the dead. The Bible says, “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another.” (Matthew 25:31-32)

The Bible is very clear. On Judgment Day those individuals who believe in Jesus as their Savior from sin will inherit everlasting life in heaven, while those who reject Him will be sentenced to everlasting suffering in hell. There will be no second chances when Judgment Day arrives. Turn to Jesus, repent of your sins, trust in Jesus as your Savior from sin!
