A Word of Truth #019
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). With these words, God identifies marriage as a relationship He created. Marriage is a divine institution, not a mere human invention.
This is important to understand, because many people today are trying to redefine and redesign marriage in ways completely contrary to the expressed will of God. This is not only morally wrong, but ultimately hurtful both to individuals and to society.
God intends marriage to be the life-long union of one man and one woman. These two are to become one—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Together—husband and wife are stronger than either individually and can meet the challenges of life successfully and with God’s blessing.
A Word of Truth #020
Human life is given by God. It is defended by God when He declares: YOU SHALL NOT MURDER. Though our society continues to devalue human life, it is a gift from God to be treasured.
The life of every sinner is of incalculable value because our lives on this earth are our own individual times of grace. We are all born in sin and if left without Christ will die in sin to be damned eternally in hell.
God’s grace—has provided full and free salvation from every sin, but as the apostle Paul wrote, “How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?” (Romans 10:17). Each sinner’s life on this earth is his time to hear the Gospel of Christ and be brought to faith. So Isaiah wrote, “Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near” (Isaiah 5:6).
