A Word of Truth #003
Who is God? God is a spirit and therefore invisible. He is an actual being with a single definite identity. God has unique characteristics. He is all-knowing, all-powerful, present everywhere, and has authority over all things.
There is only one true God. He identifies Himself in the Bible as “tri-une,” that is “three-in-one.” God is three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Ghost—yet these three are only one God. God the Son became man in the person of Jesus Christ to suffer for the sins of everyone, including all who are listening today.
God does not change. He is dependable and in His love He seeks a relationship with you. God already knows you. Get to know God in the Bible.
A Word of Truth #004 2002 revision of 1994 material
A marksman missing his mark is one of the ways God pictures sin. To hit God’s spiritual “bullseye” we would need to keep God’s Law perfectly. Sin is everything which “misses the mark.”
Sin is everything you do, but which God forbids. It is everything you don’t do, but which God commands to be done. Nor is sin limited to actions. It includes what is said and what is thought.
Sin is real and there is a real consequence to it. God says, “The wages of sin is death, BUT the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Eternal death is the due reward for missing the mark. However, Jesus kept the law perfectly for you and paid your sin’s punishment. You have earned death by your sins, but you have full free forgiveness and never-ending life through Jesus Christ.
