Dear Jesus, ascended Savior, I find it so hard to wait. I’m waiting for Your return; I’m waiting to be led to the right decisions where there are questions in my life; I’m waiting for specific blessings for which I’ve prayed; I’m waiting for peace of mind and heart in what can be my turbulent life; I’m waiting for so much and my patience can be so short. I know all of these things come from You, and I can trust You to provide the right things at the right time, but it’s still hard. Forgive my impatience and doubt. Strengthen my trust in what I cannot see and then with that trust move me to patiently wait the revealing of Your will and blessing in everything. Amen.
Peter offers admonition and encouragement to children of God as we wait for our ascended Savior’s return. This counsel is addressed to the earthly shepherds of Christ’s flock, to the relationship between younger people and elders, to all in regard to humility and complete trust in Christ.
Already before suffering and dying, Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit for the blessing of the disciples. In these days between Jesus’ Ascension and Pentecost, the disciples were waiting for Jesus’ promise to be fulfilled.
