Pre-Service Prayer:

O LORD, You are a God of grace and mercy.  The good news of Your gospel message brings me life, fills me with joy, and offers me hope as I look to the future.  As I worship this day may my soul be uplifted by Your Word, and may I then be moved to share Your message with others as You give me that opportunity.  I ask this in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 96

First Reading:

Psalm 48; Hebrews 10:19-25

There is great reason for God’s Church to praise His name and to proclaim His truths.  He is our King.  He rules with righteousness and lovingkindness. His kingdom will last forever. He promises to guide us throughout our lives even unto our deaths.

This is a “go-to-church” passage.  But why ought we go to church?  Here at church we hear the good news that through the blood of Jesus we can now approach God with confidence.  Let us uphold the confession of God’s truths!  Let us share with each other that confession and thereby encourage one another along life’s way!

Second Reading:

John 20:19-23

Even as God the Father sent Jesus into this world to fulfill His work as our Savior, so He now sends us out into this world to share His message of peace through a proclamation of the forgiveness of sins for His sake.
