Pre-Service Prayer:

O LORD God, as I enter into Your presence on this New Year’s Day, please fill my heart with reverent awe, for You are the Creator of all things, and it is You who has given me this day—the very first of 2014!  Open my lips to sing Your praise!  Impress upon my mind the truths of Your Word! Increase my faith, my love, and my confidence in You, my only Lord and Savior and move me to serve You always with faithfulness.  Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 90

First Reading:

Psalm 121:1-8

This “Song of Ascent” was sung by Old Testament believers while en route to worship at God’s temple.  It speaks of their and our trust in the LORD God who is our help and keeper in all places and at all times.  With Him we can proceed into this New Year with confidence!

Second Reading:

Luke 13:6-9

The key to a productive life this New Year is good fertilizer!  To what am I referring?  The fertilizer all of us need as children of God is found in God’s Word, the truths of which nourish our minds and hearts and prepare them for good and godly living.  May we all be productive in 2014 to the glory and pleasure of our Savior God!
