Hymns: 15; 789; 425; 800
Pre-Service Prayer:

Almighty God, by the working of Your Holy Spirit, grant that I may gladly hear Your Word proclaimed and follow in its light.Teach me to always see the lasting value in the Gospel and the salvation it declares. Keep me from building my hopes and dreams and fulfilling my life on the emptiness of this earth and direct me always to the fullness of my Savior. Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 39

First Reading:

Colossians 3:1-11

We have been raised with Christ. This gives us a diferent mindset—no longer setting our minds and hearts on things of the earth which are here today and gone tomorrow, but rather on the things above which are eternal. With minds and hearts set on our Savior and His blessings, we put off all of the sinful, selfish, earthly behavior that offends our Lord.

Second Reading:

Luke 12:13-21

A pair of brothers were in a dispute over an inheritance. One of the brothers wanted Jesus to settle the dispute. Jesus used the opportunity to tell a parable and instruct the man that one’s life does not consist in the abundance of what he possesses.
