Pre-Service Prayer:

Dear Jesus, my heart is broken by sin—I come confessing it and seek Your forgiveness. My heart is broken by the disappointments and discouragements, and sorrows of this earth—I come pleading for Your strength and healing. My heart can be filled with questions and doubts about You, Your Word, Your control of things in the world, and so many other things. Come through Your Spirit and calm my troubled heart, giving me peace and security in You. Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 103

First Reading:

Galatians 1:11-24

The Apostle Paul recounts what happened in the days following his conversion on the Damascus road. Nothing Paul preached was from man—it was God’s revelation. Paul’s life and ministry was accomplished by God and blessed by God to give comfort to grieving hearts and to bring glory to the God of our salvation.

Second Reading:

Luke 7:11-17

A widow was burying her only son. Can you imagine the grief and uncertainty in that woman’s heart? When a man stopped the funeral procession and encouraged her to stop weeping, confusion was likely added to her troubled thoughts. However, that man was Jesus, and He raised her son from the dead and brought joy to the woman and glory to God.
