Pre-Service Prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, as I enter Your house this Good Friday, may I do so with a spirit of humility, awe, and thankful remembrance. I am by nature a sinner and unworthy to enter Your presence, therefore I should be humble. I am here in Your presence—the presence of the Son of God who is both just and holy, therefore I should be filled with awe. I am the object of Your grace and mercy, therefore I should remember Your death on the cross with thankfulness. Bless me this day as I worship. Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 32

First Reading:

1 Corinthians 1:18-25

The message of the cross is foolishness to the unbelieving world, but it expresses the wisdom of God and reveals the power of God for everyone who believes. Christ-crucified leads to believers saved!

Second Reading:

John 15:13-25

Jesus revealed His love for us by giving up His life for us. He has declared us to be His friends. The world, which hates and rejects Jesus, will also hate and reject us. We need not fear the world, however, because Jesus and His Father are much greater than the world!
