Topic(s): Ministry
Hymns: 16; 284; 46
Pre-Service Prayer:

Heavenly Father, send down Your Holy Spirit on me as I come to Your house for worship so that I may gladly and meekly learn from Your Word. Fill my heart with gratitude for every blessing so that I may give You due thanks for all of Your grace and mercy. Hear my prayers and answer them according to Your will. Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 126

First Reading:

Colossians 2:11-23

Jesus fulfilled God’s Law for us and died on the cross to remove its judgment against us. The Old Testament ceremonial law pictured what Jesus would accomplish. Once Jesus fulfilled the Law and redeemed us, the ceremonial law no longer needed to be observed. Therefore, we no longer observe the ceremonial aspects of the Sabbath Day.

Second Reading:

Mark 2:23-28

The Pharisees observed a Sabbath Day that was a misunderstanding of God’s law and the addition of their own laws. Jesus’ disciples broke the Pharisee’s Sabbath day, but not God’s.
