Hymns: 536/564; 296; 429; 51
Pre-Service Prayer:

Heavenly Father, my heart is open to You. You know all my desires, and there are no secrets that I can hide from You. Purify my thoughts and desires by the Holy Spirit’s working within me. Make me a suitable dwelling place for the Spirit, enable me to fulfill my purpose in serving You and to do all to Your glory. Toward that goal, be with me and bless me with Your Word in worship today. Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 67

First Reading:

1 Samuel 3:1-10

Samuel’s response to God is what we pray our own will be to God’s Word: “Speak, Lord, I’m listening.” Sadly, there are many times when our flesh doesn’t want to hear what God says and we are tempted not to listen, to disregard what God says, or to hear only what we want to hear. May our faith be strengthened to listen always.

Second Reading:

John 1:43-51

When Nathanael doubted that Jesus was worth following, Philip simply invited him to “come and see.” Nathanael went and having met Jesus was convinced that Jesus was the Savior and he followed Him. We have been blessed to “see” Jesus. In the knowledge of who Jesus is and what He has done there is ample reason to follow Him and honor Him with our lives.
