Pre-Service Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for being my searching Savior. Even though You have found me and made me God’s child, I am still a wandering sheep. Whenever I wander, come and find me in Your grace and mercy. Use Your Word in today’s worship to guide me and to strengthen me against the temptation to wander. Bless us all in worship! Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 51

First Reading:

Exodus 32:7-14

The Children of Israel had committed idolatry with a golden calf. God’s anger burned hot against His people, and He was ready to destroy them. Moses interceded before God on behalf of the people. Moses didn’t plead for the people on the basis of their own value for they were sinners. Rather, Moses pleaded with the Lord on the basis of His grace, His mercy, and His faithfulness. We also find our value and salvation in the grace, mercy and faithfulness of our Lord.

Second Reading:

1 Timothy 1:12-17

The Apostle Paul knew his past all too well — he had blasphemed God and persecuted God’s children. However, by God’s amazing and abundant grace, Paul was led to repentance and faith in Jesus. Paul considered himself to be the chief of sinners, but he rejoiced to know that he was still a redeemed and treasured child of God through His Savior, Jesus.
