Pre-Service Prayer:

Lord Jesus, my own sins and all of sin’s effects in the world cause sorrow & fear to rise in my heart. The evil in this world leads me to plead, "How long, Lord…how long?!" Perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle me I pray (cf: 1 Peter 5:10). When my heart shakes and dwells upon the fear & evil of the world, redirect me to see the glory of my Savior and all that He gives me; and then embolden me to proclaim His name! Bless us in worship this day, I pray. Amen.

Pre-Service Devotion:

Psalm 1

First Reading:

Isaiah 51:1-8, Isaiah 51:12-16

Everything and everyone in the earth will perish, but the Lord our God and the salvation He gives to us are everlasting and will never be abolished! God reminds us to keep things in perspective: The fading earth with all of its sorrows and dangers is nothing to fear because YOU BELONG TO GOD!

Second Reading:

1 Timothy 4:1-11

Paul made Timothy aware of the opposition he would face in the world as a child of God and servant in His kingdom. Paul encouraged Timothy to be a faithful minister by preaching and teaching the TRUTH (God’s Word) even in the face of falsehoods and opposition. Having the promise of Life through Jesus Christ makes all the difference in the world!
