Welcome to Mr. Dan Roehl's Classroom at
Immanuel Lutheran School
Social Studies
The focus of the social studies department here at Immanuel is to foster Christian citizenship skills. We follow the Minnesota state social studies standards, but do so from a Christian perspective. We believe that a working knowledge of “His story” is essential in order to be an evangelistic Christian as well as a productive citizen of our local community, our state, and our country.
American Issues
We offer an American Issues class that, through mock trials, role-plays, debates, discussions, lectures, and other various activities, examines the topics most debated in the U.S. today.
Geography
Our Geography class examines both the human geography and physical geography of God’s creation. Through student-generated publications, extensive map work, computer software exercises, and class discussion/lecture, we gain a clearer understanding the world in which we live.
World History
Our World History course offers a comprehensive survey of mankind’s relationship with God and with each other from creation to the present. This elective class focuses on the major civilizations and events of ancient, medieval, and modern history.
U.S. History
The U.S. History class is a survey of our history from Columbus to present-day. Through expository writing, role-plays, lectures, and discussions, the “big picture” of our nation’s history is dissected. The “History Tour” of Washington D.C. is the culminating activity of this class. This tour is a five-day trip to our nation’s capital--an examination of the places and events that shaped both our nation’s beginning and it’s present-day operation.
