Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Auxiliary
On December 18, 1918, a number of ladies of Immaneul Congregation together with the pastor, the Rev. A.F. Winter met at the home of Mrs. Paul Schaller to organize an English Aid. Temporary officers were elected, and the organization chose the name: The Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Auxiliary. A committee composed of the Rev. A.F. Winter, the Rev. and Mrs. J.F. Niouz and Mrs. Paul Schaller were authorized to draw up a constitution.
The first meeting was held on January 29, 1919 at the home of Mrs. E.A. Boie. At this meeting the constitution was read and discussed. It was signed by eighteen members. Mrs. E.A. Boie was chosen as the first president. During the presidency of Mrs. Ernest Uhlhorn, a new constitution was drawn up and adopted. This constitution was adopted in 1929 and specifies that any woman who is a communicant member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church affiliated with the Synodical Conference may become a member of this organization.
The objectives of this organization are: To practice Christian charity; to aid in the work of the church through the medium of the English language.
The present officers of this organization are: Mrs. G.E. McKinnon, president; Mrs. Paula Timmerman, vice-president; Mrs. Martin Reetz, secretary and Mrs. Agnes Mettler, treasurer.
